This is a sketch for a painting from 1983 when Karen was exploring how distortion and colour can be exaggerated to depict an inner world.

Karen Wilcox is an artist living in Eastwood, Southend-on-sea. ‘The Waiting Room’ exhibition was presented at The TOMA Project Space in March 2020, it contained a beautiful collection of previously un exhibited paintings and drawings by Karen from when she was drawing people with long standing mental health problems in a day centre in Southend-on-Sea.
