Karen Wilcox 'Old Lady in Leigh' (1983)

Karen Wilcox 'Old Lady in Leigh' (1983)

£65.00

Original artwork, 210 x 297mm (A4), pencil.

This is a pencil study for a sculpture from 1983 of an old lady in Leigh high street crossing the road, she is wearing a long coat and leather gloves with a walking stick in her left hand and lightly sketched shopping bag in the other, around the back of her hunched figure is a darkly shaded shadow. Karen’s empathetic practice often sheds light on those who are vulnerable in our society.

Karen Wilcox is an artist living in Eastwood, Southend-on-sea. ‘The Waiting Room’ exhibition was presented at The TOMA Project Space in March 2020, it contained a beautiful collection of previously un exhibited paintings and drawings by Karen from when she was drawing people with long standing mental health problems in a day centre in Southend-on-Sea.
